Frequently Asked Questions
Does the CD only help fiction writers or will it help me with my
non-fiction project too?
The CD will boost creativity, motivation, and
productivity regardless of whether you are writing
fiction or non-fiction. Whether you're writing
a novel, screenplay, short story, magazine article,
poem, play, or research paper, the Writer's
Mind CD can help.
How many tracks are included on the
CD?
The CD contains two tracks. Listen to Track
1, Inspiration, whenever you
want to boost your creativity. Use it for stimulating
new ideas, brainstorming, story plotting, character
development, and more. Inspiration
will help you eliminate writer’s block. Listen
to Track 2, The Writing Zone,
whenever you want to boost your motivation,
enhance your concentration, or increase your
productivity. Use it to get into the writing
zone and to keep yourself focused and on track.
How does the audio technology work?
The Writer's Mind CD uses harmonically layered
brainwave audio technology to trigger specific
brain states and patterns when listened to via
headphones. These brain states help to enhance
creativity, motivation and concentration, and
bring about many other positive benefits. The
technology also synchronizes the left and right
hemispheres of the brain, allowing you to access
the creative right brain and the productive
left brain at the same time. To learn more about
the science behind the technology, please visit
the How
It Works section of our web site.
Do I need any special equipment to listen to
your audio technology?
You'll need headphones or earphones in order
for the brainwave technology to have an effect,
but any headphones or earphones with a frequency
range of 20Hz–20,000Hz or better will
work just fine. If you do not already own headphones
or earphones, most inexpensive headphones or
earphones (under $20/pair) can reproduce a range
of 20Hz–20,000Hz or better, so you won't
need to purchase expensive equipment in order
for the CD to be effective. Inexpensive headphones
and earphones capable of handling a broad range
are available in large retail stores such as
Best Buy or Wal-Mart and through many online
retailers such as Amazon.com.
Can I play the audio tracks on my MP3
player instead of playing them in my stereo
or portable CD player?
We don't recommend converting the audio tracks
to MP3 format because the compression process
can interfere with the brainwave technology
on the CD, but you can convert the tracks to
WAV or AIFF format and play them on your portable
player in that format instead. When an audio
track is converted to a format like MP3 or WMA,
the audio is compressed to make the resulting
file smaller. During that compression process,
certain frequencies and bits of audio data are
clipped and some of the quality is lost. When
converting normal music tracks, the missing
data isn't as noticeable to the listener, but
with tracks that contain such precise binaural
frequencies, any missing data can cause a noticeable
difference in the brainwave effects. You can
convert the CD tracks to WAV format, AIFF format,
Apple Lossless format, or any other format that
isn't compressed, and the files will be slightly
larger than MP3 files but the audio quality
will be retained and you won't lose any of the
effectiveness.
Why do you use the sound of rain on
the CD?
The sounds of rain are used to mask the sound
of the binaural frequencies and to provide the
most pleasant listening experience possible.
In addition, studies throughout the past few
decades have proven that masking binaural tones
with a form of white noise such as rain enhances
the effectiveness of the tones.
Are there any other sounds or voices on the CD?
There are no vocals or subliminal tracks on
the CD. The CD contains only the frequencies
that make up the brainwave technology, and the
binaural frequencies are set at a level just
below the sound of the rain.

I purchase the CD?
